It always begins with an idea.

The original idea for Seven Gram Quarter was birthed during a three month volunteer teaching experience in Papua New Guinea. I was working in the Eastern Highlands region where a common garment worn by all is a single piece of fabric wrapped around your waist, much like a skirt, called the “Laplap.” Soon, this simple and comfortable unisex skirt/wrap became my go-to clothing item for the majority of my stay.

Seventeen years later, my laplap experience from PNG paired with growing curiosity about the healing properties of hemp, inspired me to create a clothing company designing and producing laplaps out of sustainable hemp sourced from a woman-owned family business in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

In 2019 my work came to a sudden halt when my youngest child was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma. While he was in treatment, I thoroughly educated myself on the correlation between what we put in (and on) our bodies and how it affects our health.

Seven Gram Quarter and organic body butter blended together in May of 2023, while attempting to purchase my favorite organic body butter from San Diego, I discovered the company was taking an indefinite break from production. This initial disappointment soon became my moment of inspiration. I chose to utilize all of my learning and create my own organic body butter with the healing properties I was looking for. With organic ingredients that heal our skin, sourced and harvested sustainably, including raw shea butter from a co-operative in Northern Ghana that employees and empowers local women with a true living wage, Seven Gram Quarter was reborn.

Today, the story continues as we experiment with new fragrant blends to meet the needs of all our unique and beautiful bodies.

Grace & Peace,

Michael

Manifesto

Dreams expand horizons and transcend boundaries.

Exploration starts with a glance in the other direction.

Taking risks is necessary for innovation.

Ego turns innovation into inaction.

Slowing down is underrated.

Our healing desperately needs us to (re)learn ancient wisdoms.

Seven Gram Quarter believes:

Life is what you make it, so go where the life is.

Home is wherever you are, so do your best to make it welcoming for others.

When screens are missing, life is abundant.

Life organically happens outside.

Dirt underneath your fingernails is a sign of true wealth.

Relationships are the best part of life.

Our relationship with our skin is a reflection of our relationship with our planet.

Be light and you will always find your way.

Self-expression is a necessary ingredient of love.

The journey is more important than the destination.
